Highlights of Jenbacher Type 2F engines
Building on its proven heritage, the new Jenbacher Type 2F 50 Hz engine now leads the way with next-generation technology innovation that delivers up to a 3 percentage point efficiency boost compared to the earlier engine versions and now up to 360 kWel output without sacrificing its proven reliability or robustness.
In addition to delivering efficiency as high as 41.8% when operating on pipeline gas, the Type 2F engine is optimized for reduced total hydrocarbon (THC) emissions, future-proof fuel flexibility, and enhanced serviceability.
Moreover, the latest 2F technology is retrofittable for most of the installed Jenbacher Type 2 fleet.

Innovative design features
New cylinder head (4V)
The new cylinder head has been optimized for better charge exchange and improved cooling. It also offers reduced THC emissions, optimized combustion, and more robust material pairings for valves and valve seats.

New power unit
The new connecting rod of the 2F series enables the use of the established piston from the 3F series. This contributes to the lower clearance and thus enables lower THC emissions, better combustion, and lower oil consumption. Other important aspects of the design include a new piston bowl shape and new cylinder liners and scraper rings.
New intercooler
The new intercooler offers 40% more power with an intercooler water temperature (ICWT) of 70° C and, therefore, use of the entire mixture’s heat. This not only leads to higher overall efficiency but also to simple installation and a reduction in auxiliary power for the low-temperature circuit.
New valve train (4V)
A new valve train with a floating bridge makes service easier.

New camshaft
The new Miller camshaft enables greater efficiency of the charge exchange and thus contributes to improved engine efficiency. It also reduces THC emissions.

New ignition box
This latest-generation ignition system, also adopted from the 3F series, enables efficient combustion.
Scope of supply:
The genset scope of supply is designed for applications that require power generation only. If you are looking for simultaneous power and heat generation, please consider the Combined Heat and Power Module (CHP Module) scope of supply.
Minimum scope of supply for the genset:
- Engine and alternator installed on the frame
- Control panel
- Gas train
The scope of supply can be extended further with various balance of plant (BOP) options. Reach out to our specialists for help in selecting scope of supply and BOP options to fulfill your project’s needs.
Gensets can be installed inside a building or container. For more details about our containerized solutions, click here.
The Combined Heat and Power Module (CHP Module) allows you to generate power and heat simultaneously at very high total efficiencies, reaching 90% and even more.
Typical scope of supply:
- Engine and alternator installed on the frame
- Control panel, gas train
- Heat exchangers, including exhaust gas heat exchanger
CHP Modules can generate hot water or steam at various parameters and can be integrated with your existing heat infrastructure. You can select the option that fits your project’s needs among the various heat recovery schemes provided by INNIO Group.
